Our 50th Crop in sanford Drops Saturday. And it’s got us reminiscing…
March 3rd, 2016 was our first harvest ever. It was medical only in our North Berwick location. That’s where Green Truck started over 10 years ago. Since then, cultivation outgrew their space and was moved to our larger facility in Sanford for our first recreational use harvest in 2023.
This past Saturday, August 29, Green Truck’s 50th crop in our new grow dropped in our Sanford and Kittery stores.
Fifty harvests. Over 3 years. Numbers like that don’t happen overnight, and they don’t happen by accident. They happen one grow cycle at a time.
Never Forget Your Roots
Our first crop didn’t come out of a state-of-the-art facility. It came from a modest, local grow we built by hand. While seemingly small now, that first harvest was the start of something we didn’t fully understand the size of yet.
Every crop since has taught us something. Better genetics. Better technique. Better feel for what Maine wants to smoke. That’s what fifty crops really represents: not just volume, but years of getting better at the thing we set out to do. The operation has grown right along with the company, moving from those early days into a dedicated, state-of-the-art cultivation space we weren’t when we started. Built specifically to grow at the level our customers now expect.
Learning As We Grew
Our current cultivation team is single-digit small, and every one of them knows these plants inside and out. Chris, our Head Grower, is a prime example of growth. He didn’t start out running the grow. He started behind one of our counters as a budtender, learning the product from the customer side before ever touching the live plant. That path into his career matters.
That kind of dedication runs through the whole cultivation team. We are constantly testing new genetics alongside the cultivars that have become Green Truck staples, always pushing for better flower instead of settling for more of it. Crop 50 is proof of that work. It produced some of the largest colas and one of the heaviest harvests we’ve pulled off yet.
